Goyette Mechanical recently sponsored the construction of Soap Box Derby cars to compete in upcoming events. There were 33 kids and 31 volunteers/parents in attendance from Beecher Schools, Freeman Elementary, Springview Elementary, St. Pius X, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Flint. At least three of the cars are near completion – which we did not anticipate would be the case after the first workshop.
Everyone seemed to really enjoy the entire experience and it was great seeing the level of collaboration and immersion throughout the entire day. Overall, the first workshop really laid the foundation for a meaningful community program writing papers going forward.
